Covid and dental treatments: what you need to know?
In the past decades, Hungary has become a dental tourism superpower in Europe. In the early 2000s, Austrian and German patients started to come to Hungary to have cheaper treatments. In the following years dental tourism evolved into a major industry in European– and later in worldwide medical tourism, as news spread that Hungarian dentists with excellent accreditations are offering dental services meeting the highest international standards, with services even surpassing the UK and US excellence, with extremely competitive prices compared to western countries. The majority of the clients arrive from the German-speaking countries as well as the UK, Norway, Italy, and France.
However, the coronavirus pandemic hit the Hungarian dental market too. Luckily, as the local government reacted on time—much more effectively than other countries– the actual number of confirmed infected people with Covid-19 in Hungary is less than 0.05 percent of the total population.
Our implant clinic was open with reduced operations during the whole pandemic lockdown, offering emergency assistance like tooth extractions, cavity fillings, and acute pain relief. As quarantine restrictions were gradually lifted even our clinic turned back to its normal operations. All types of dental treatments, even full arch restorations, are now available! However, having learned from the dramatic events of the past months we introduced some modifications to our normal procedures to guarantee a safe and sterile environment to all our patients and medical staff such as:
treatments only by appointment – to reduce waiting times and to avoid having more patients in the reception area at the same time
temperature measurement and hand disinfection upon arrival with provided hand sanitizer at a hygiene station at the clinic’s entrance – if your temperature will be above 37,8C we will kindly ask you to return home, self-isolate and contact local authorities if required
at the reception desk, our colleagues are protected by a transparent plastic barrier
during treatments, all medical staff must wear protective shields and gloves
treatment rooms are ozonized after each intervention
free phone consultation available for non-essential dental cases
Besides, despite the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we did not increase our normal fees and we continue to operate with our previously advertised price-list!
